Banner Advertising on KnifeDogs Forum
First please be aware we are new at this and will most likely make changes as we gain experience.
We have two classes of advertising rates. One rate for Custom Knife Makers and another rate for everyone else.
1. Custom Knife Maker. This advertising rate is for knife makers selling exclusively their own custom made knives. If the banner refers someone to a web site that sells things other than their own custom knives, they fall into Reseller Advertising. If you sell wood, a knife tool, any kind of knife related gadget, jewelry, damascus blanks or billets, etc, etc., even only occasionally on your web site- you fall out of the Custom Knife Maker advertiser and are classed as a Reseller. If you are mid-tech knife maker and sell a couple hundred knives a year, as long as it is your own knives and only your knives, you will be charged the Custom Knife Maker advertising rate.
1. Custom knife makers banners ad rate.
· $15/month
· 6 months $75, a savings of $15
· 12 months is $135, a savings of $45
· There is a 2 month minimum.
· a second banner placed into simultaneous rotation will be 1/2 of the rate of a single banner
2. Reseller Advertiser banner ad rate. This is for all others that are not in the Custom Knife Maker class.
· $25/month
· 6 months for $125 a savings of $25
· 12 months is $240, a $60 savings over monthly rates.
· There is a two month minimum.
· a second banner placed into simultaneous rotation will be 1/2 of the rate of a single banner
Conditions of use:
Acceptable use: All advertising must be related to the knife collector, knife maker or knife enthusiast. This includes knife making supplies, knife makers, knife dealers, tools related to knife making which includes metal or wood working tools. We will not accept any political, dating, porn, social networking or non-knife related advertising. Any banner that may be deemed offensive in any way will be refused. Any banner that is negative about any other person, competitor or entity will be refused. Please avoid any reference to your business as being "the best", "your only choice", "better than the others", etc.
Banners must link to the site they are advertising and it should be clear in the banner where one of our members will end up if they click on your banner.
Any report from a member that clicks on a banner leading them to a site where they were warned of hostile software or other caution by their browser or other anti-virus installed on their PC will be grounds for immediate removal of the banner from public view until the report can be looked into. If your site is considered to be infected with a hostile virus or other negative consequences, your banner will remain out of circulation until the situation is rectified. We expect a few false reports here as some users have their browsers security settings so high they get false positives. We also expect to uncover some malicious code infecting web sites that their web site owner was unaware of. One of the best things that could happen to you as a web site owner is to be told visitors to your site are getting browser or anti-virus warnings so you can eliminate that. Immediately reacting to any report will be good for both of us.
Your banner can be updated once every three months if you desire, for no charge. If you want a new banner more often, and we think that might be a good idea, the change out fee is $10 per change.
As this is the internet, occasional network and forum outages are to be expected and are part of life in the internet. No refunds will be given for temporary system failures out of our control. It doesn't happen often but it does happen. Try not to get stressed out about it.
Partial refunds: Maybe your situation changed and you need to pull or pause your banner advertising. We will refund any unused months or simply start it back up again when your situation changes.
Banners will be uploaded into the system and an expiration date applied to the banner. We do not have a method set up to automatically review your expiration and re-bill you. We will periodically review expired banners and contact you to see if you are interested in renewal.
Mediation on KnifeDogs member issues. We aren't in the business of mediation. We feel it is up to you to satisfy your customers. Someone at some point, it going to complain to us about someone that advertises on KnifeDogs and will expect us to do something about it. We will inform you of their complaint as soon as possible and ask you to work it out with them. Everyone isn't going to be happy all the time and we understand that. If we get multiple complaints, I will contact you directly to resolve the issues so it isn't a negative reflection on KnifeDogs. If we can't work it out, we will terminate your advertising and refund the unused months in your subscription.

Technical:
Banners are to 60x468 pixels in 72dpi in jpeg format. Submissions will be reviewed and any banner not meeting these exact specifications will be returned for modification.
HTML coded banners will not be accepted. All banners are to be simple 60x468 jpeg files.
Currently, no animated banners are being accepted. Mostly because we don't understand them right now. Once we gain some experience or better technical support, we will look at this again.
We do not design banners. It is up to you to supply the banner in 60x468px at 72dpi format. We have used Rock Cowles several times for different graphic projects and can tell you he is good at what he does. He will make a banner for $20 for you if you have your own logo that just needs to be converted into a banner. For $100 and up, he will work with you to create a logo, avatar, business cards, etc, and a banner. He can be contacted on KnifeDogs.com as user "Rock" or via email at kowulz@gmail.com

Exposure to 17,000+ KnifeDog members. Many of them are knife makers. All of them are knife enthusiasts.
Your banner will be placed into rotation for the subscribed amount of time.

We will have no more than 25 Knife Maker banners and 25 Reseller banners in rotation at any time.
Generally a new banner is shown every time a member or other forum user loads a page or clicks back to the home page.
Depending on how many page loads a forum user has any how many banners are in the que, a forum user may or may not see your banner on every visit or even a few sequential visits. The system does not track who has seen which banners, it simply rotates them in order for users during a visit.
We do not track impressions or provide viewership data. We aren't Google but we wish we had their money.
How to submit a banner:
Send us the banner file in jpeg format. Include the link you want the banner to refer to when clicked. We will have a look at the site and confirm it. Tell us how long you want the banner to run and how you want to pay for it. We can take credit card, paypal, check or money order. All advertising is paid in advance. We do not bill monthly or carry receivables.
