arbor press for leather stamp?

SO I recently purchased a leather stamp and its machined out of aluminum, and about 1.5 sq by 3 inches long. To get an even stamp I'm thinking a small arbor press? If you guys use a stamp, what do you use to apply even pressure on the stamp? My attempts don't look as good as this one, and aren't as even, so thats why I'm asking. We have a hyudralic jack in a press for our saddle trademark. It works real well on a round inverted letter stamp thats about 1-1/2". We use a 5 ton jack and it gives a real clear deep impression.

This is the arbor press I use for my stamp, for both my knives and my sheaths.I milled a slot in the ram for the stamp and it is held in with set screws.Dave
