I see this 80CRV2 steel on Aldo's site I have never heard of it. What can you guys tell me about it?

It looks to be very close to 1080+ Alpha is selling... should be very good steel from the looks of it. Reminds me of suped-up 5160, more carbon and a bit of vanadium...

I like 5160 a similar better steel has got my attention, I just ordered steel or I would add a bar to play with. Where is Kevin we need his input?

I bought a bunch of 1080+ from alpha a while back. the composition matches aldo's 80CRV2. the steel works and heat treats like 1084. very happy with results. all the material I bought was 3/32 or 7/64.
heat treat I use is 5min at 1475, quench in fast oil, temper at 375 for 30 to 45 minutes. result tested at Rc62.

Have you done any destruction testing? Is it tougher than 5160?
