This is a design from Murray Carter's 101 Knife Designs. The Damascus is from Brad Vice. The scales are old growth redwood from Mark Farley stabilized by the K&G crew. The pin material was gifted to me by Jason Hammock. The photo was done by the new owner of this knife Van Tenpenny. I just love...

    15N20 Quench Speed?

The most official looking info I can find on 15N20 as a mono-steel says to "oil quench" but not at what rate. I've got a Medium speed commercial quench; but would like to know if that should be expected to get my 15N20 in .130 and .095 thickness fully hard. I've also got a brine that I'm...

    Little one

Here's a little utility/skinner I finished on President's Day. 1084/Brown Canvas/Stainless Pins I hadn't realized it until now that the top of the blade looks like it has gouges in it in the picture. It's the reflection of the vinyl siding roof on my porch.

    First knife sales this weekend.

Local show and I borrowed table space from a friend who had been given 2 free tables. All I had was a small batch of Kiridashi; but they sold well and were gone before 1pm today. Feels GREAT!!! Aldo's 1084 with a mustard and vinegar etch.

Having a hard time with 1084...

When I was making knives in '03 I was using the then prevailing recommendation "beginner steel" of O1. I never had a hard time getting it to harden and seeing the austenizing "ghosting" happen. I was quite pleased with my blade performance at that time. Now that I am getting back into knife...

    Hello from Hendersonville, TN!

The last time I made a knife was Christmas 2003. My Dad was visiting and I made a knife for him while he watched. 4 months later he was gone from primary lung cancer and I haven't made a knife since. I've grieved and am ready to move on. My son just turned 16 and is interested in making...
