    New piece of kit….maybe

Thank you !! It turned out okay… I am impressed with the blade hardness and toughness after finally being able to soak the O1 for the recommended time.

    New piece of kit….maybe

Hey guys , been absent for a little while, life is busy. Got some new tools for the shop , including an Evenheat kiln for heat treat! This knife is from the first batch of O1 that I treated in the new furnace. It came out pretty well… can’t make up my mind if I want to sale or put it in the...

Scagel style sheath knife lots of pics WIP

Triple temper after hardening , now I will clean her up and blue back her a few times. I would rather the blade bend than break on these larger blades ! Beautiful straw like temper color on her though !

    A01 question

With a decent heat treat O1 makes a great knife in my humble opinion . Are there better steels out there ? Sure why not , but does O1 do everything I need it to do absolutely . I don’t care to sharpen my knife after using it “hard”, and I don’t mind a little patina on a blade . I have found in...

I personally like it , gives it some patina / character . That being said I don’t know how many times I have redone a blade over something small that just didn’t sit right with me , something that most people wouldn’t even notice .

Progress !! Slowly but surely …. I waited a little later in life to have my son and no one told me how busy they keep you when they hit the toddler years but here is the wife’s new kitchen knife ground and heat normalized , I have to make a run to the store and pick up more oil before I can...

    Keeping busy!

Here are a couple blades forged out and rough ground , no real bevels have been ground yet should keep me busy this week and weekend, the larger of the two is going to be a kitchen knife for the wife and the clip blade will go to a buddy who hooked me up with a nice propane forge !
