Arduino, thermocouple, firebricks, and heating elements?

I built my home made heat treat oven probably for less than $400. But pricing now days is crazy. I found a burnt out pottery kiln for free. I reused the kiln bricks by turning them inside out. I used the floor and top for the bottom and top. I made the cabinet enclosure using a plenum kit...

    saw steel

I live in the saw mill capital of WV. I've used a ton in my early days. To be honest it's hit or MISS. I like most now days people would rather use my time and materials with a known steel. You mileage may vary. But it's true the steel is the cheapest comportment of knife making. Whatever blows...

    HT oven build!

Totally made from recycled pottery kiln bricks. I probably have less than $200 dollars in it. Of course that was before Covid and PB. Pre Biden.

    HT oven build!

I'm having problems posting pics from Chrome book. Heat treat oven is blurry in background. Pic is of my favorite handle sanding machine though. Oscillating spindle sander that I use standard paper on instead of factory drums. Dust collection is incredible with standard shop vac and spindle size...

    HT oven build!

Yeap TRUE ENOUGH. But for side walls that's not a problem, been there and done that. The top and bottom of pottery kilns are golden for top, bottom and door. But to be truthful mine was rectangular kiln.

IMG for me too. The lady I talked to was like a flash back in the Andy Griffin Mayberry day. Refreshing! Took all the time in the world to explain to me about the whole process etc down to the most minute detail. And I didn't have to hit 1 for English.

    HT oven build!

You should consider a used Pottery Kiln. NOT for the kiln but for the bricks. I see them often on Craigs List, etc for cheap or give away. I lucked into one that someone used the wrong clay or something and destroyed the elements. I was extra lucky as it had 2" of extra insulation outside the...
