    Cryo?

Hmmm...interesting reading. I, for one, don't want to sign up to a website to read non-scientific data, however. I'm assuming Me2 did read it and found out that tempering temps were not adjusted to optimal with cryo treatment??? What other variables were either not considered or ignored? Show...

    CPM 10V Heat Treating Options

I've played with CPM 10V only a little but really like it for smaller knives. I heat treated to Crucible specs at 2,150, plate quenched, then tempered at 1,020 for 2 hours X 3. My question is...seems lots of folks are liking to cryo CPM 3V , then temper it at 400. Is it the concensus to do the...

    400 Grit Belt

I was looking at the VSM website last night, searching for the same thing as you. Turns out VSM DOES make a 400 grit ceramic belt, as well as 320 & 600 grit. I can't promise that they make them in 2X72, but would think so. I don't know why no one carries them. Wish they would. Link is below...

CPM 10V -- Do you foil wrap?

First time working with CPM 10V. I've only wrapped stainless in the past, and wasn't sure if it was because of the alloys, air hardening or because of the high temps. I always read to do it, so I did. What about CPM 10V? I'll be going to 2,050 degrees. Isn't stainless, but does have some...

Sounds great. Followed the link and couldn't find a date for the class, only the payment date. Maybe I'm just missing it. Has a date been set?

    heat treating furnace which one

I bought the KO recently, and for the same reason you mentioned. Some are now saying that the stainless steels like M390 need to go up to 2150. I would kick myself if next year a great steel comes out that requires 2200+ degrees. Buy once, cry once. I may never need it, but it's better to have...

    Quench plate sizes?

I recently picked up some 1.25 x 8 x 12 for $52 off ebay. Wasn't really looking for the extra thickness, but I guess I could fin them just for grins and to increase surface area.
