When using a pivot head set for a foldiner, is it usual to glue the screws to prevent potential loosening? Do most people use washers at the blade? When peening pins in 416 ss, is there an advantage in using nickel silver pins or should the pin be the same material as the plate?

Am using 1095 about 2mm thick. Drilled a hole and just screwed it in but it broke half way. Just starting to make my first folder and wanted to be able to use some of these fancy screws on occasions.

Have some '2-56 X 1/4″ Diameter Short Socket Head Screws' from Ti Connectors. For the ignorant who are only familiar with metric, what do I use to put a female thread in some metal for these little boy? Will they just thread them selves if the hole is close to size?

Similar situation here, with my limited experience. I have a smaller one (6 in) which I use regularly on mainly blades. I have a faster more powerful one that is sitting in the naughty corner. Scared the sh.t out of once too often. With the smaller one you can actually put enough pressure...

By the way the insurance companies are the same here, maybe not that bad yet. You need a major catastrophe to make a claim worthwhile.

Hello KD's, Has anyone used the sandblaster type cabinets to finish blades? You can use garnet or glass bead or similar in the cabinet. Just wondered if anyone has found this type of thing useful in finishing or assisting to finish blades.

Thankyou for your comments. Striking while the metals hot seems to be the most logical. Easier on the knife and stamp. Will have to try and see. Appreciate your inputs.

Getting a stamp made up to mark my blades. Can someone enlighten me as to why I should 'hot or cold' stamp them? What are the pros and cons? Also do you need a stamp jig?
