Looks very nice! I bought an anvil and a small Atlas forge and 2lb hammer when I started. My rotator cuffs are both blown out and I can't swing the hammer for more than a minute. I'm just settling for stock removal... Post up a video of some hammering!

Picked up a nice piece of Feather Damascus. This one is hollow ground. Hope to finish it up this coming weekend.

I received the wood today and it's very heavy for the size pieces and it smells like @$$ when I cut it! Sinks right to the bottom of a bucket of water...

When I buy Damascus or San Mai from a maker, I always ask that they provide heat treat instructions. The maker should know better than anyone what steels he used and how to heat treat them.

This is just what I'm doing! This is nothing more than a hobby for me. I don't do batches of the same design or runs of blades. I may do 3 or 4 of a pattern people like. I do sell some knives here and there and it's nice to make some money to throw back at the hobby. Last year I got way too...

It does look similar. The grain on the piece I posted seems to have a lot more sharp edges, almost like lightning bolt drawings...

A friend of mine has this old football carved from wood and a display base. It must be 30-40 years old. Here is a picture of the base. Can anyone identify this? He's giving it to me for knife scales...

I'm finding that when I work on more than four knives at once I get sidetracked and end up with 10 to 12 knives in various levels of completion. I do like to do things in steps though. When I get the bandsaw set of for metal I like to cut out as many blades as possible before putting a wood...

So, I assume you're talking about batches of the same blade type, correct?

To all the knife makers here, how many knives do you have in the works at once? I sometimes feel I'm working on too many and maybe neglecting to concentrate enough on each one. This leads me to believe I may put out a better product with less irons in the fire... Thoughts?

What a fantastic price! But expensive for the time I'm sure... I carried a Gerber MK I in my boot for 26 years while serving in the USAF. I still have it and it withstood some serious torture in the field!

I did the heat treat last night. I got a respectable 61.1 HRC after tempering. I still have a lot of work to do to get this cleaned up. I think I'm going to try a Black Oxide coating on it. I have to see what the SIL says... As for those saw teeth...I wish I would have rigged up some sort of...

Stabilized is the way to go!
