    Scraps from the Master's Table

That would be great Roger! Just watching you make that pen was wonderful. Learning how to apply CA would be a super benefit. :) I hope you have a great weekend.

    Scraps from the Master's Table

Roger I'm slow to step in here, but want to thank you for the great WIP. I love your CA finish - wish I could get them that shiny! I must be using the wrong CA and sanding too much of it off the wood. Your WIP gave me some great suggestions on how to approach this next time. Have a great day!

    Matchlock Axe/Pistol

Thanks Bruce, I get it now. :) Man, I love watching you work. The brass inserts that you're tapping for the trigger guard are the cat's meow. I take it you machined those too. This piece is wonderful Bruce. I dig it more every day, and = that's saying something! I think about your project often...

    Matchlock Axe/Pistol

Thanks for the explanation Bruce. Sometime when you have it apart and your camera handy, I would love to see the details of the serpentine bolt. Have a great day!

    Matchlock Axe/Pistol

Dumb question Bruce. What are you tapping the big bolts into? Wood? Sorry for missing something I'm sure.

Bruce, next time you have a $300 Loveless copy - or anything for that matter - let me know! :) That guy was not the sharpest tack in the drawer.

    Matchlock Axe/Pistol

Looking good! I have to say it again, I really dig the work on that trigger guard. Thanks for showing me how you cleaned up that inside area; that 90 degree handpiece is sweet. I'm going to have to upgrade to a nice flex shaft some day and just pay for the handpieces I want -- just like buying a...

    Carbide file guide

Well, I may have soon. I use 60 grit ceramic belts for rough grinding, so we'll see how that works out. I might know something this weekend.

    Matchlock Axe/Pistol

Don't know how I missed out on all this activity. Bruce, our sympathies and prayers for your family. Many of us seem to have lost our mothers, probably the single most influential person in most of our lives. That is not an easy time. Glad you're back on the job though! I think it's cool as...

Yeah, I learned about diamond right off - scratched the carbide with a small diamond file and decided right then - no diamond files on my dear Bruce Bump carbide file guide! :)

    Carbide file guide

I just got mine Monday, and the first thing I did was - use it! :) It works like a champ, I love it and am so pleased that I'm never going to wear it out. Can't wait to try it on the grinder and see what that's like. Bruce makes the best stuff! Thanks Bruce!

    Matchlock Axe/Pistol

Making good progress Bruce! I appreciate the idea for filling the gaps in inlay; that's always been my biggest bugger and why I don't try it anymore. Now maybe I'll give it another chance someday. Don't think I've mentioned it, but I really dig that dragon! :)

    Matchlock Axe/Pistol

Bruce I'm curious how you cleaned up the inside curve of the cutout for the dragon in the side plate. Did you use your Foredom hand piece? And if so, how do you keep a sharp line at the 'bottom' of the cutout? These are the important touches that set the pro's work apart from ... me. :)
