    I bought a laser engraver/cutter

I haven't had any issues with my machine. I haven't had a ton of time to use it other than maker's marks. I have tested some burning into wood and I'm about to do some leather with it. For those you're gonna want some ventilation. Many build boxes for the lasers with an exhaust tube and fan to...

    Bolsters

I wouldn't bother. Stainless bolsters are already pretty stain/rust resistant and as you will find out when sanding/shaping are fairly "hardened" already.

    I bought a laser engraver/cutter

No, I got that off the internet. I had to do a little manipulation as far as size. That's a celtic knot (of sorts). I have some other patterns I'll be trying as well. My plan previously was to etch them but the vinyl cutters don't do the intricate designs very well. But the laser does! You do...

    I bought a laser engraver/cutter

After some testing on other materials and scrap, I gave this a try. 100% power, 2 passes, 2000 mm/m, .05 interval. Came out very clean (both sides). Should make a nice cleaver.

    Need Some Opinions....

You could probably drill with a 1/8" bit in the very center and then use that as a guide for a 1/4" bit to get the rest of it out. Black would probably be best as it would hide the glue lines around the edges of the pins the best. There's also always the option of coloring your epoxy white...

    Knife boxes

I do the same. It's basically a wine bottle box (Amazon), then I put some excelsior straw in it. That holds the knife (wrapped in bubble wrap), sheath, and the certificate/care instructions. Then I put it in a cardboard box for shipping. Now that I have my laser, I'll likely be etching...

    I bought a laser engraver/cutter

It's the ortur master 3. It does work quite well. I tested out a few things and burned my makers mark into a test piece. There's definitely a learning curve. I like all the other projects that are available as well!

    I bought a laser engraver/cutter

Dang it, now you guys got me thinking about a laser. Especially since I had a electro etch stencil clog up on me last night and i had to grind the mark out.

I haven't found much collects behind my grinder, mostly at the bottom where you have your "funnel". I have that same funnel!

Affordable White Bone or Expensive Mammoth Ivory?

I agree with Taz, don't use the high end stuff unless it's an order. At least with lower cost materials on a handle it isn't such a big deal if you have to sit on it for awhile. For the expensive types of scales, when I have a client interested in a knife I show them different mockups, pricing...

What's going on in your shop?

Nice! I like all the fish patterns you can find out there these days. I still have a couple from G-Carta that are pretty cool.

What's going on in your shop?

Yeah go for it. I got the idea from somewhere and then saw one on youtube. I got the magnets off of Amazon (see below). It's important to get the right size and that they are powerful enough. These are about the size of a quarter and I stacked 3 on top and 3 below. The other critical thing is...
