    unknown custom(?) knife

The blade being stamped "INOX" (which means stainless) pretty much assures that it is a factory knife.

    Poor POPS

An understanding woman is a big plus for a knifemaker. More often than not, especially in the winter, our kitchen table is covered with leatherworking stuff and the dining room becomes the shipping department.

    Shawn Ellis Competition Cutter

Great find. That's exactly why I posted a thread about guns shows in the Collector Corner. More of the better knife dealers and custom knife makers are coming back to the guns show because they are local and less costly than doing most of the bigger knife shows. 2010 Knife Dogs Choice Awards Categories

Personally I would have liked to have seen the Bowies/Fighters separted from Hunters/Skinners in fixed blades. I still think we need to define a "New Maker".

How do you deal with rust?

Thank you all very much for your input. It is interesting to hear what everybody uses. I think I have what I need and my deadline is approching. I don't know when it will appear in the magazine.

What is the most difficult step of knifemaking for you?

Since I do stock removal the most monotonous part is standing at the bandsaw cutting out blanks. For me, the hardest part is deciding what I want to do with handles.

The Legend of the Bowie Knife

Thanks. I do write pretty regularly for Blade Magazine and occasionally for some other knife publications. Writing for the magazines is really more reporting rather than writing due to the space limits but I enjoy it.

I love the pattern and the detail work but to be honest I don't care for the blue underlay. It is great work.

How do you deal with rust?

Thanks everbody for your input. Please keep it coming. How do you deal with rust that may be present or prevent it from forming in the first place? Kris, thank you for the detailed explanation and photos. I hate to put you on the spot but I have to point out one error. WD-40 does not contain...
