    pilot knife date

The holes as I understand it are to aid in tying the knife to a stick to make a a spear. As far as I know, the only way to date Camillus knives is that over the years they changed the ways the stamped their name. There is a website that illustrates it. But I can't find it right now.

    1st foray into Stag handles

Coming along. Got handle nearly hollowed out to fit tang. Need to get about 1/2" deeper. Going to use a piece of the dark wood (some exotic hardwood I bought several years ago. Can't recall what it is) as a spacer by the guard.

    pilot knife project

Doesn't look like it needs much to me. I'd probably work at rust removal with some fine steel wool, sharpen it and get it a sheath. Then call it good.

    I saw that one too.

    Boker MK1

Yes, actually all PAL-36 knives have that. You just can't see it in my pics due to my poor photography. All PAL-36 knives are made the same by the same company. There were some variations in handle spacers and knife blade finish. Most were just plain. Some were Parkerized. Another thing to...

    Boker MK1

If you want a good WW-2 Military knife, take a look at the PAL-36. These are 6" blade fighting knives that are made of great steel. And have the usual compressed leather handles so they are easily restorable. And the best part is that compared to other knives (such as the MK2/USMC Ka Bar or the...

    1st foray into Stag handles

1st foray into Stag handled knives. Components pictured. Blade is a heavily worn, now polished WW-2 Camillus USMC knife blade. Guard is the original off a previous project PAL-36 knife that I used a different guard on. Handle material is an Elk tip. More pics to come as progress made.

    need advice

To my knowledge, Kutmaster is a division of the Utica knife company. Which did have contracts with the U.S. Govt. in WW-2. Mostly for bayonets. I have seen some Kutmaster Mk2 style knives. After WW-2 Kutmaster made many fighting style knives, mostly based on surplus Utica bayonet blades, for the...

    Flea Market knife ID/value question.

A local flea market has a knife I'm interested in. It is a Stag hunting knife with an approx 6" blade. Appears to be fairly old. Come with very dry rotted sheath that apparently was for a 2 knife set up. Only markings on blade were MER Solingen. Asking $60. Looks very much like this knife...

    WW-2 PAL-36 knife project.

Just thought I'd share one of my recent projects. A PAL-36 that I bought cheap in very poor condition. And made into a very sturdy hunting knife. I changed the blade profile a bit by reshaping it to more of a bowie tip with false top edge. And added a much more sturdy thicker guard. Also...

where is the best place to sell military knives?

Well, yes it is. There are fakes and highly overpriced original knives on Ebay. So you gotta know your stuff. But the internet is a great place to learn it. There are many websites that offer info on the original milsurp knives. You just have to do your homework.

    Bayonet Refurb/ Upgrade Questions

JB Weld will attach the guard & pommel securely. As long as you aren't putting on a tightly compressed leather handle. After it sets up, it's almost as hard as steel. And can filed, sanded and painted to match other finish colors.

    Band saw question

A local pawn shop has a Black & Decker 9" tabletop bandsaw at a very attractive price that I intend to buy. It is the largest size I have room for and will be handy for many projects knife related or not. But I definitely will want to cut steel with it. Question: Can you cut blade quality...

How would you make one? I'm pretty handy, but doesn't hurt to get advice over trial & error. Please give an idea of what to make out of etc.
