First try on this type of sheath.

Very nicely done. I really like the beadwork and turtle. I like the whole thing and the sheath and knife pair well together. Nice. SDS

    Roping a deer

That was funny! Just FYI, DO NOT HUNT DEER WITH A KNIFE!! I won't go into details here but I can confirm SEVERAL of the ranchers observations!! SDS

    @&$!?$&!?@ Buffer

That stinks. At least you weren't hurt. Those buffers are sleepers. They lull you into a sense of security..........then strike like a viper. SDS

    2009 Hunting

Here is my Dad's largest buck to date. He shot it this past Sunday morning. I tagged a doe the same morning. Both shot on public land. The buck had 12 points (can't see them all in the picture but each side has a kicker off the back) and field dressed 138 lbs. SDS

name some wood that is becoming rare

Real Lignum Vitae is tough to find, nice Desert Ironwood is another one. One I reallly like but can rarely find nice specimens of is Pink Ivory wood from Africa. The few pieces I can find are really plain with little to no figure. SDS

    Jaw Bone

I wouldn't have thought of using it for a hawk but I bet that will look cool. I have a swordfish bill that is dried that I need to get stabilized. I want to make a sheepsfoot blade with the bill as the handle and possibly scrim something on it. I figured it would make a neat sailors knife. SDS

    Jaw Bone

    Shop picture thread.

You buncha neat freaks! I took these a long time ago. There is a pretty deep layer of dirt/dust/crud on the floor now. No matter how often I sweep/blow it out it always looks like a dirt floor over that concrete. And I still need to figure out how to get this in the main...

    Belt Direction

Startling......umm, I don't remember screaming that word when it's happened to me! Actually I don't think what I was yelling would be appropriate to type in a family friendly forum such as ours. SDS

    Bret Dowell ...

Sweet. Looks like you have broken it in well too. I'm going to be up by Brett's place next month doing some deer hunting. I've only met him once but I've seen quite a bit of his work. He pays a lot of attention to detail. SDS

    Something different from me,VERY different!

That's definitely not what I've come to expect from you but I have to say you pulled it off well. It has a very new look to it but by looking at it you can still easily tell it's your work. Nicely done. I think sometimes it's very difficult to try something new, out of your normal style...

Balancing Orders vs New Design Ideas

I thought getting orders was a good thing. I suppose from a business standpoint it is but from a makers standpoint I don't like it. I am WAY behind on orders and since I too am doing this part time it's taking longer than I'd hoped for the knives on order. I did give longer lead times when...
