    Sharing a grinder motor source

I bought 2 VFD's from ElectricMotorWholesale.com this week. And 5 or 6 over the last few years. They are great folks to deal with. Though I buy switches and boots elsewhere, as they are much less expensive, even at McMaster-Carr.

    Why are tracking wheels "crowned"?

Make sure all of the axis' are parallel with each other, and that the center of the wheels are on a plane, and I'll bet a lot of you problems go away. I fought my KMG for quite a while, until I figured out that the wheels were not all in alignment. Not only were they not coplanar, the drive...

The way I make my dovetailed bolsters.

If you do front and rear bolsters, they end up exactly like a sliding dovetail in woodworking.

    Need a new stencil guy

TUS is the place. I was unsatisfied with Electro Chem, who was local to me, when I discovered TUS. They are GREAT. Ask for Jan (yawn) and request the gold stencils. Use their Electrolyte too.

    which etcher works well ?

It takes almost no amps to etch, so a higher powered unit is unnecessary. I think my transformer is rated at less than 1 amp, and I get GREAT marks.

    Bob Warner etcher question

Dude, the taco post was designed to be incomprehensible. Like the post it was in response to! You gotta break those things up a bit man, they are HaRd 2 ReEd. I still don't really know what you're after, but trying to decipher it is giving me a headache. Here is a schematic for an almost...

    Bob Warner etcher question

FWIW, I see NO reason whatsoever for 24v, but if you must have it, you must. Always meter the wires coming off of the transformer. Well, let me clarify, always meter EVERYTHING so that you understand what is going on. Looking at the schematic, it appears as though a SPDT switch would do it...

    New logo for etching

If you want to sell stuff, and have people know it was you that made it, and even get future customers from looking at your past work, this is a mistake. If all you want is for yourself to know that you made it, perfect. You are on the right track! However, you will need to make it relatively...

    Electrolyte to etch titanium.

I'm OK with a Blue mark. But, it needs to be crisp, and well defined.

    Electrolyte to etch titanium.

Show us please. I have tried close to a dozen electrolytes on Ti, that are supposed to be for Ti, and am entirely unhappy with the results. I can get a mark, but never a good one. Fuzzy, blue marks are all I ever get.

    304 stainless

304 is miserable to mill, drill, and tap. 303 is a pleasure. Making fantastic fittings is a big bonus, because if I ever do a project that requires that sort of thing, I enjoy working with it.

    304 stainless

I don't know about polishing, since I do very little of that, but I love 303, detest 304. The difference is HUGE between the 2 materials. 303 is pleasant and easy to work, and 304 is terrible. I have bad dreams about it...

Variable speed controls on a 1 phase?

VFD's run 3 phase motors. DC speed controllers control DC motors. If your Grizzly is stock, no, it won't run the motor.

Help me I'm in over my head

I personally use 16v transformers. (doorbell) Experimented a lot with a variac based version and I get the results I like with 16v.
