Another Viking axe finished up. I’ve been using @BossDog ’s suggestion for transferring patterns using laser jet print with acetone. It works beautifully! I used it to do the carving on this one’s handle. The next one I have planned will have a very intricate design on the face using this method.

Yup. All those things help.

They can get hot during etching. Also, the fine holes in the material can get clogged up if not cleaned. I know mine are at the end of their life when the edges lose their crispness and start to get kinda hazy.

I picked up a 1/4" thick piece of "bearing bronze" that I'd like to use for a guard and spacer on a knife project. I haven't worked with bronze yet, and am assuming there are different kinds out there. Will this kind work? I plan on filing and sanding it to shape. Didn't know if it can be cold...

I started out with 2 sizes to use for different size blades. I found that the larger size I originally ordered was too big. Just recently put in a reorder and got a smaller size to use. My stencils are through TUS Technologies. Been very happy with the product. They come as 5 stencils on one...

They will definitely be harder to break after tempering. To check grain, I've always snapped them before tempering.

It’s axe grinding day! I’ve got three of these on the bench. Need to finish profiling them. Might get as far as detailing one. Still need to research some designs.

Here's an idea I've been wanting to try. It uses a 2 X 72 grinder to power a tumbler made from PVC.

If that's a metal can, any reason you couldn't use it as is? Maybe build a wooden cradle for it to make moving it easier.

A 7” Santoku and small paring knife for a customer. This is some hybrid resin and dyed Chestnut burl. Really beautiful stuff.

A couple more just finished. This one is an 8” chef with Ebony and a Box Elder burl spacer in 15N20.

Prepping for glue up on a few kitchen knives. Got some more dyed Chestnut burl I’m dying to see finished up.
