Is it just me or is the bottle opener backwards?? I like the idea of the cork handle. I'm not so sure it won't turn out to be one of those ideas that works better on paper than in real life. I haven't had an issue with needing my knife to float but can see the desire for that attribute...

Mike, that design would make a good little knife for cleaning game but I'd call that more of a caper than a skinner. Doesn't really matter what you call it though, as long as it works right? Ernie, but sure to post up pictures when you get it finished and let us know how it works for you. SDS

I have used either flat rate boxes or other cardboard boxes with the knife and sheath wrapped in bubble wrap. I just picked up some zipper cases I may add with some of my knives. Which knives get the zipper case will depend on price. SDS

That out to be a pointy lil bugger! I like the narrow version better for the intended purpose. SDS

I think a narrower blade would work better for the way I clean small game too. SDS

Ron, thanks for the link. I'll be doing some reading on this one. We do have elk but the hunts are pretty tough to get. The drawn hunts are a once in a lifetime hunt.....literally. If you get drawn for an elk hunt you can never put in for another one. Enough elk have wandered off of the...

Mike, where's your sense of adventure?! I'm not getting any younger and this is the kind of stuff I want to do before I'm stumbling around in a walker. Ron, I couldn't swing anything like a $7,000 hunt but this may be something I will have to put back on the radar and do some more research...

So what would someone from out of state typically expect to pay for a decent chance at an alligator??? If you haven't figured it out you have my curiousity piqued. SDS

How difficult is it for someone from out of state to get a tag for alligator?? I had never even considered it because I just assumed it would either be cost prohibitive or too hard to get a tag. SDS
