    Filet O Thumb

This is by far the most different piece I have ever done that I can remember. So who won the fight?

    Filet O Thumb

Little over 2 months since my accident. The old thumb is what it is. I did get back to work on the blade I had started working on before the accident. Changed my mind about using it as a knife blade and went with what I intended it to be used for. Grabbed the old osic that hangs out in my shop...

Most of half a year's worth of forged blades

James, I would love to have a fraction of your energy. While I was looking at all your inventory Swiss Army knives kept coming to mind.

Dennis, Your bowie looks good. The bottom of your guard is to long. It should be the same distance below the blade as it is above the spine. That's one straight crown you used.

    Paul Apostle of Christ

I had come in for my daily brunch and fixed myself something to eat. Poured a cup of coffee, sat down, grabbed the magic wand, turned the box on and went to the sorta free movie channel and up pop's the above mentioned movie. I really hadn't heard anything about this movie other than a slight...

    Welded eye hammer

Around 2002 I started getting interested in hand forging tomahawks. Making one out of railroad spike was how several of us at that time got started with the tomahawk bug. We'd start by making the eye first or at least attempt to make the eye by making a slit and then punching and drifting the...

    Welded eye hammer

You don't need to etch it. Make your cut about 7/8 of the way through and then bend it where you made the cut. When you bend it it will look fibrous were you stopped the cut if its wrought iron.

    Welded eye hammer

Do you know how to test it? What does the spark look like if you grind it?

    Welded eye hammer

just curious, Did you happen to ask what it was before it got turned into the bar you purchased? How did the wrought iron forge? Did it tend to come apart when you hammered it?

    Welded eye hammer

What is the source of your wrought iron? Are you sure its actually wrought iron?

Bending metal for guard without forge?

I've always enjoyed making bowies and fighters with "S" guards. Been using this trick for several years. Clamp the guard to a chunk of 1" wide steel, stick it in a vice, heat the guard material with a propane torch and hit it with a hammer a few times till it conforms to the die. The second...

    Amazing Grace, the song

I got lost for awhile and didn't think CKG was available any longer. Thanks for putting the words to this song. The Words by themselves need no music to be beautiful! What a powerful testimony......

    Filet O Thumb

Jon, I'll do that. Originally when I made the blade I got side tracked making a gunstock war club and then another type of club in the attached photos. The extra blade in the second photo is the same one in the thumb shot.

    Deer Crown Skinner & Sheath

I did put the indents there so you can choke up on the blade plus every great knife design needs a gimmick. Thanks!
