Finished this one up and it's ready to get shipped out. I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

What's going on in your shop?

Thank you! I really like the way it's turning out so far. No, I don't dye the leather at all. The variations in color are just natural variations in the color of the leather and also where the epoxy soaked into the leather.

What's going on in your shop?

A little final hand sanding and a little polishing on this handle before I get started on the sheath.

    1095 with a Hamon

Looks good! Love the hamon. Did you do it with just an edge quench or did you use clay or something for the hamon?

Heritage Hunter - my first stacked leather handle

Backwards? Says who? Lol That's how I always shape my guards! So I guess backwards is a matter of perspective! But most all of my knives are stacked handles and I shape the guard as I'm shaping the stack. Seriously, well done on your knife though. It's beautiful!

    Respirator failure..

I understand what you're saying, and you're probably right - it may not be a "perfect seal", but I've never had any issues with anything getting into my mask with my beard.

    Respirator failure..

I have a beard also, similar to yours and it also varies in length from time to time. I've never had any issue with my 3M respirator not working with my beard - even when I let it get pretty long last winter. So you shouldn't have a problem with one.

    Respirator failure..

I always, ALWAYS wear a respirator. Occasionally I may start to cut or grind or sand something without my respirator - thinking I'll be real quick, but then I make myself stop and put it on. Good advice though because there is some nasty stuff that can mess you up.

    Books/Sites Concerning Design?

Since I started making knives, I've just done what you've been doing: looking at lots and lots of knives and getting my hand on as many other makers work as I could. And then, just making.... Seeing what looks right and feels right to me. I agree that research is a great thing, but in the end -...

What's going on in your shop?

Yeah this one probably is dull, but it's pretty much always tracked to the side even with a new blade, but it has got worse since it's dull I'm sure. I've just not ever been happy with it. It just never has functioned well since I bought it.
