    small wheel attachment

Those "ripples" are caused by the splice in the belt (there is a "hump" there), and it is more noticeable as the grits get finer. Here a couple of tips (only good if you have a variable speed grinder) : I assume you might be grinding a finger curve in the bottom side of your handle and...

one for the wall of shame!

Well brother Knuckles, that had to hurt down deep inside. "Live and Learn".... "Been-there-done-that"...... and all those other one liners. The little wood line by my shop is full of mistakes. Lots of iron in those woods. 1095 just ain't crazy about plain water, especially from 1500...

    My first complete knife

Looks pretty dog-gone good for a first knife. They only get better from here. You learn something new on every knife you make. I have made a few hundred, and still learn new things on each one I make. Keep up the good work and pay special attention to heat-treat, blade geometry, and fit...

    Sawmill Special

If you combine an old rusty sawmill blade, some old canvas Micarta from the early 60's, and the work of one old stubborn man, you sometimes get something new. Here is that something new....... (Overall length - 8 3/4".....Blade Tip to Handle - 4 1/8"........Approx. 1/8" thick at the front of...

    Just some Kitchen Stuff

Here is a set (of 6) that a customer ordered. He also wanted sheaths (with no belt loops) in order to be able to place them in kitchen drawers without them banging against other utensils. All were made from 154CM with H/T by BOS to 61Rc. Two have spalted maple burl and four have cocobolo...

    Forged 1084 and Jigged Bone

I have had a pair of jigged bone scales lying around for about 3 years. Finally decided to give them a try. Not sure if I like the look or not. Even though they were pre-dyed, the dye was not even throughout the scales. Forged 1084 Jigged Bone Domed Nickel Silver Pins OAL - 7 3/4"...

    Neoprene/Horse-stall mat Handles?

Here is one that I put together about 5 years ago. I used Micarta pins and epoxy. The owner sent an email last year and stated that it has seen some hard use and the handle is still like new. It was finished to a 220 grit with the belt sander. Micarta pins came from Texas Knifemaker's...

    Headin' to Belgium

Who took the picture???? Well, that would be me. I posted this blade on another forum, and was asked for more pics of the sheath. Not the best pic, but here is another shot of the sheath. Edited to add: The sheath was designed to be a "right front" pocket carry. However, you can turn the...

    A new Norton sandpaper

I use the 220 as a starting grit on hand finishing the blade. It works great to take out those pesky grinding marks that you thought were gone with the grinder. From there I go to 3-M wet/dry and go through the grits. 3X cuts fairly aggressively, but doesn't seem to last much longer...
