    New Disk grinder

Gliden, You will need to either put the VFD in a grindings free room or put the VFD in an enclosure with a filtered vents and a fan to protect the VFD from the metal grindings. The VFD has a fan in it to draw cooling air inside it. Of course, this will also suck the metal grindings in and...

    VFDs out in the cold

Not if it is in a NEMA 4X enclosure with proper cable glands. NEMA 4X enclosures are air tight and are even used in car washes.

    Ribbon burner forge build

I have a quick connect on mine. Make sure that you get the ones for fuel, not just the compressed air type. They will leak. You will not get the fine adjustments needed with either a ball valve or the adjustable vent on the blower.

    Ribbon burner forge build

Tracy have you looked at the attachments on my Forge Supplies page of my web-site? Good info there. It does not appear that you have a gate valve on your air supply for more precise control. A ball valve will not give you the control that you need. I do recommend a ball valve on the fuel...

WTB Rod Neilsen magnetic disc hub

you will have to get the hub and disks directly from Rod. I can supply you with the 1 hp 1800rpm TEFC cast aluminum motor for $350.25. Due to the import tariffs there is an additional $20.00 added to the cost of the motors, therefore the cost now is $370.25. This will be removed if the tariffs...

Check with KB and see if you can't send it in for repair. If nothing else you would have a back up or maybe you could sell one.

PID ribbon burner? Anyone here done it?

I use a pid with my Ribbon Burner forge. The temp in not controlled by the PID but the forge does do well at maintaining an even heat. Fred Rowe has a PID controlled forge, last time I was there he didn't have a Ribbon Burner forge though. Check out the Build a Gas Forge and the Ribbon Burner...

    Mokume Gane project.

I use a Press or Treadle Hammer and use the jig multiple times. Put never seize or similar product on the threads. You can actually do it cold if you had a press from what I read with these two soft materials. From what I read heating them technically this doesn’t actually forge weld them in...

    Mokume Gane project.

You get more contrast if you alternate quarters and nickels. I press the nickels cold to about the size of the quarters I press onto a piece of D2 (plainer blade). The nickels will dent mild steel.
