    The Laser Thread

Thanks Ken, yeah I think it will be perfect for batch work... Super fast reference and just click a button, wait a couple min and I'm done with all the marks on that blade. I got the xyzr linear table in today! I had to make a base plate to be able to screw down to my laser... So I made it from...

    I bought a laser engraver/cutter

Hey if I was only doing it as a hobby I would definitely get the diode Laser... Nothing to be ashamed of! I didn't even know about those things before this post. I thought only fiber could actually mark into the steel. Plus - this is dedicated for metal (and maybe some kydex)... The diode can do...

Re-thinking dust collection... a 'new' way to do it?

Thanks for chiming in Bob! As far as matching the air flow I would use the same ID size duct for both sides and only have 1 port open at a time to the blower. The supply side (at the grinder) would be as close as possible to the exhaust duct but even if it's a foot or two away it should work...

Re-thinking dust collection... a 'new' way to do it?

I have never wanted to vent air outside because my shop is heated and cooled... and in order to do that you have to have some way for fresh outside air to come in your shop, which wouldn't be heated or cooled without a heat exchanger (from what I've been told) So I though I was reduced to...

Question re: Copper liners on Carbon Fiber.

Yep as others have said heat is the main thing... I grind under coolant though which helps immensely (you could look into getting a cheap mister from Amazon for that specifically probably). I think it will look good with the cf! Here's one I did with brass

    Epoxy Scales

Super cool! Yeah I'm real curious on your set up... From what I've seen you need a vacuum chamber for them to cure in but is that not the case?
