    Drilling handle out for hidden tang?

    Nice work Justin! Dont worry to much about the alignment. Looks like there is plenty of wood thats going to need to be removed. So you should be OK on this one! Ed. I am happy to hear that I am not the only one who doesn't clamp a hidden tang. Like you I found it to be pain inn the backside. :)

    This week I started grinding a few blades for a 3 knife order. That was the original plan anyways.. Then I went on a grinding spree.. Shaping, rough grinding, heat treating and finish grinding 15 blades!! One of which is a 21" long chopper. Thats like grinding a couple knives all in one! ...

And without going into it to far here is a great answer! :D The 304 is a common stainless used in "stainless damascus" It does not harden to the level of other stainless steels. Yet we use a small amount of it. under 10% by weight in the billet...

    I used a thing called Liver of surfer. Its something Lisa used to patina Jewelry. so I gave it a try and dang it. It worked beter then anything else I had tried./ and is fairly permanent. Which in this application is important. :) Thanks and God Bless

    week 2 Photo contest CLOSED

    HHH Knives, Dagger. This one was a challenge. I had to move my light as well as the knife and camera position. So I was not getting a reflection in one pin or another. This was taken with a Canon Rebel Knife was in a light tent with 1 studio light. critiques welcomed.

    San Mai and mammoth tooth Hunter

    San mai Hunter. This custom hunter was made with HHH damascus over a carbon core steel. RC 60. The OAL is approx. 9" with a 4 1/2" blade The handle is a combination of mammoth tooth and ebony bolsters with copper fittings. Thanks for looking, God bless!

    Ken, Thanks for the complement. This was and does represent alot of firsts for me and Jr. This was the first time we forged mokume with any other materials then quarters. First time I attempted to do a scalloped butt cap. And to be perfectly honest/ The Gold and silver was a bit intimidating...
