    What is max hardness for that? mid 50s...? Would be okay 40 years ago but most guys would whine about that today... sometimes I use my A2 blades un-heat-treated to test geometry and handle fit, etc...they actually work pretty well...but obviously don't hold an edge forever.     everything's technique I guess....I sharpen most of my production kitchen knives with them and can slice tomatoes thin enough to read through... Musta got a good one I guess...but yes they are hard on an edge...on a $12 knife i don't care too much...I can eventually redo on my knife grinder...

    Here's a knife I'm keeping for me. I removed the pronounced finger stop so I can use this in the kitchen....The original Oltimer has "Schrade, U.S.A. 152 on the right side of the knife. after this knife I went back to my Hauser knife script on the left side... this is the best feeling handle...

    Assuming Dexter Russel or less in quality('cause non-knife people...)...a smith co carbide drag sharpener(you know...the bright orange ones...)...serious. you can make most kitchen knives work well with those. Yes it is not a honed or stropped or even smooth finish...yes it will eventually...

    I have used VHB tape (very high bond) from 3M for other things and it is amazing what it can do. I would start my research there...it's flexible which is prolly an imperative...see amazon link below...

    How can I get a good flame striped finish on Ti?
