How to attach scales to Damascus?

I temporarily attach the scales, finish scales and tang edge, remove scales, etch knife, attach scales permanently. I use Corby bolts for final attachment so they have to be finished off after the knife is finally assembled .

    Another engraved slipjoint.

I made this Small Trapper a while back and recently sent it off to Alice Carter to have some engraving done. I think she did an excellent job.

    Slipjoint for ICCE

Thank you. I make the patterns for the male and female parts and use a pantograph mill to make the actual parts and then some hand fitting is required. The key to a good fit is getting the two patterns right.

    Simple fixed blade.

Ha Ray! Good for you on the shovel handle. Save it for sure , it makes nice knife handles as you can see. No I haven't forgotten how to make folders, I have 3 in progress right now. Did you see this one?

    Simple fixed blade.

The coffee is acidic , the stronger ,the more acid, although it is a very mild acid compared to ferric chloride. Thats why you must leave it in for a long time.

    Simple fixed blade.

I attached the scales with the corby bolts but didnt grind them off. I finished the handle completely before etching the blade. Then I removed the scales, etched the blade, hand finished the blade, bolted on the scales then ground them flush and stained the scales.
