Does anyone know where I can find some 3/8" bar stock? I have run out and i cant find it with any of my usual suppliers. I am open to a variety of metal types 1095, w2,w1,1075,1080 or 1084. Something along these lines. Can someone point me to a supplier?

Here is recent chopper I have made. It is forged from a round bar of O1. it is 17.5 oal with a 12 in blade. .32" thick. buckeye burl handle with micarta pins.

I use 3/8 all the time on my bowies but the blades are 11+" for a 5 inch blade 3/8 is completely unnecessary and impractical. It would look ad perform very poorly.

Yes I got a good batch of spalted maple. I will try and post up some of the wood I have for sale soon.

Here is a hunter I just finished up. It has a 1084 blade with hamon and working finish (scotchbrite finish), a Damascus guard, copper spacer and spalted maple handle. I think the hamon would have turned out better had I hand sanded but the customer wanted the working finish on it.

Thanks. I was also considering a mix and match scenario. Maybe part of the shop with the large lights and another part with the fluorescent.

Ok I am building a shop and am in the market for lighting. I have the opportunity to purchase these (lithonia txd lowbay 23" 400 watt warehouse lighting) for the price of Lowes floresent strip lights. Would these work good or should I go with the strip lights?

I know how you ar feeling I cut my thumb off about a month ago with the band saw. It is still healing but I have no real feeling in my thumb. It is still healing but it sure puts a damper on working when you cant feel anything.

Yes alot of mine is rough cut blocks that I then cut into blocks and sent off to stabilize. I found that it is much cheaper that way.
