Hello from the PNW (Pacific Northwest)

Hah... looks like your shop is fancier than mine dude. Definitely looks bigger. :35: I'm just across the trestle... if you have any questions. Erin

Erin Burke Harpoon Bowie in Desert Ironwood

SOLD - Erin Burke Harpoon Bowie in Desert Ironwood Good morning Dogs. I'm calling it a Harpoon Bowie (because it feels like a Bowie)... though I suppose a more appropriate terminology would be a Harpoon Recurve Fighter. This knife has quite a presence, with a thickness of ~0.215" directly in...

    Harpoon Bowie in Desert Ironwood

Good morning Dogs. I just wrapped up this knife over the weekend. I'm calling it a Harpoon Bowie (because it feels like a Bowie)... though I suppose a more appropriate terminology would be a Harpoon Recurve Fighter. This knife has quite a presence, with a thickness of ~0.215" directly in...

    Whew! I made 50 of these......so far

Hey Bruce... I received my file guide over the weekend. Seemed like fortunate timing, as I had a handle to fit on a long fighter/harpoony/Bowie thing. I followed your notes on page 1 of this thread, and found that the broach doesn't fit readily into a 1/4" hole. My blade does not have a...

Cruforge Taurus 12 with stacked leather handle.

I commented on this one elsewhere... but I like it so much that I don't mind repeating myself. Your Taurus design is sweet... but the handle on this one makes it one of my favorites. I love the way the angle of the leather follows the flow of the handle. Great work. Erin

    The Judge Roy Bean Bowie

You know Bruce... you seem to have a real knack for this knife-making business. With a bit more time and practice, you may develop a name for yourself. Best wishes. :s12137: Seriously... very awesome. Your work is always top-notch. I am particularly drawn to the added flair of Gary's...

    Question about pigment in epoxy

I use Acraglas epoxy for my handles, and the only dye that I mix with it is the black Acraglas stuff that Brownells sells. It takes incredibly little dye (just a speck on the end of a toothpick) to dye a hidden-tang mix jet black. Cool stuff.

    Help with Taps and tapping!

You probably don't need to hear it... but I'll add my voice to the chorus singing the virtues of the Tapmatic 30x. I've only ever tapped 2-56, but with a bit of Moly-Dee and some good thread-forming taps (recommended by some knifemakers smarter than me), tapping titanium is a breeze. With the...

    African Blackwood Gambler's Fighter

Good morning y'all. It's shaping up to be a wonderfully beautiful day here in Everett... a great day for posting knife photos. I just finished this package up on Wednesday, and am calling it a Gambler's Fighter. This blade, for its size, is quite thick at the guard at 0.23"...

    Reverse on belt sander.

I run my KMG in reverse when using a leather belt. The KMG doesn't track well in reverse when applying pressure (I think that this is characteristic of most 3-wheel grinders to some degree), so it's not much good for grinding that way... but does ok with slow, light pressure on the leather...

One Step Forward, Three Steps Back...

Boy, I really don't know what you guys are talking about. Every day, when I walk into the shop, things go perfectly for me. The knives basically assemble themselves. Well... the cartoon mice also help... while the cartoon bluebirds whistle a pleasant little tune in my ear as I sip iced tea...

Name that Knife... Karelian Birch Utility Fighter

I think that you're right Bruce... a couple of gents on another forum made that same observation. Erin

Name that Knife... Karelian Birch Utility Fighter

Good morning all. This is how I spent my weekend. I'm not exactly sure what to call it... it's a bit small (in my opinion) to be a staight-up fighter, but that sharp clip makes it a bit more than a utility. So I'm calling it a Utility Fighter. I'm always up for a bit of education... so if...

    Antiqued Redwood Fighter

Good evening dogs... hope everyone had a good weekend. Below is what I have been working on for the past couple of days... just finishing it at 1:30am this morning. This knife is very similar to the Bog Oak Fighter that I posted a few months back, but this one has a bit of antiquing done to...

Hey Pup, Yep, it's my own design. Below is the original sketch... though the butt-end of the handle was slimmed down during construction. Thanks again for the words gentlemen. Erin
