Thanks, guys. Glad you find it interesting. I know that some of my ways of doing things are somewhat unconventional, but they work for me.

With the knife still assembled, it's time to set the detent ball location. I mark this location with a center punch on the lock bar. I will then drill a hole with a small carbide drill through the lock bar and into the blade. Here's the blade with the detent hole in place. I soften the edge...

I cut the lock bar at the mill with a thin cutoff disk. Cutting in the lock face. I leave this slightly longer than my mark so I can zero in the fit later on. After the lock bar is cut in, I clean it up with some cloth-backed sandpaper. Here's my high tech lock bar bender. It's just a...

    BrandantR's KITH WIP

Thanks for the kind remarks, folks! I hope you're enjoying following along. I didn't get much time out in the shop over the weekend, but I still managed to make some progress. Here's what I was able to accomplish. I drill a small pocket in the back sides of the front bolsters to conceal the...

    Kimmi's Cutlery Photos

Very nice knives, Gene. I just designed a new certificate of authenticity a couple of days ago. I think it adds a personal touch and the client knows he is getting something unique and special.

    8" to 12" grinder wheel....

Thank for the heads up, Steve. I've always wanted a 12" too, but because of the price I've just never pulled the trigger. I'm seriously considering purchasing one of these now.

    Finished up a Hawksbill

The scales came from a block of dyed and stabilized maple burl that I believe I purchased from USA Knifemakers a couple years ago. I finished them with about 6 coats of Tru-Oil followed by wax and a buff.

With all of the holes through the liners in place, I tap the screw holes with a 0-80 tap. this tapmatic has taken what use to be an hour long process of hand tapping a bunch of holes down to less than a minute to tap them all. Plus, I don't break taps any more which can be really frustrating...

With the same technique, the spacer gets clamped to a liner in order to locate the holes. Next, it's on to fleshing out the handle. I start by positioning the scales on the liners in order to get the hole alignment correct. With the holes drilled through both scales, I pin them together and...

Let's continue on with this build. Hopefully I haven't bored anyone yet. The patterns for the liners, bolsters, spacer, and scales have been laid out on the raw materials with a handy dandy sharpie. All the parts have been cut out on the band saw to rough shape. In order to determine the...

It's a TX brand tester. It's very similar to the Ames portable tester, probably made by the same overseas manufacturer. I think I paid around $650 new. You could probably watch Fleabay and find something similar. I just don't have the bench space for a benchtop tester, so I opted for the...

Time to bring this blade to life. I wrap it up in some high-temperature tool wrap and get it ready for heat treating. All wrapped up and ready to go. I double crimp all of the edges and rub the foil down tight around the blade to force out any air inside the pouch. Into the oven it goes...

    BrandantR's KITH WIP

Alright, Folks. It's time for me to get started on my KITH knife. I decided to build a Glaucus design knife. It's a great little design and I carry one in my own pocket each and every day. Let's get started with the WIP. I'll try to post pics from every step along the way. Hopefully it...
