Thank You Erin for the good words on the dagger. The gold plated balls are simply held in place by bending the fingers around them just before sending it all out for engraving. Finding just the right size balls was not easy. The pommel and guard tips are drilled on the lathe and the holes are...

Thanks Ted, Our oldest son Brian Bump engraved this one. He has only been engraving for less than 2 years. Much of what you see is his "first" ever like the bulino engraving of the mountain lion and the eagle. Caleb Royer shot these close ups at 120 megapixels to bring out the details

The Tig welding is a great way to go and I would do that now, unfortunatly I didnt have a Tig welder at that time.

I always make a square bar before cutting the triangles out, You should try it and let me know, this is what they call a "learning curve" :)

Ouch, I know how you feel except I've done this with ivory before. Try slightly oversized holes and a 2 degree tapered ream to help prevent side pressure when peening.
