I’m okay but here are two things to avoid.

Wow glad your ok ! Working in the oil and gas industry I've seen some awful stuff and it's always a reminder to bring safety home because stuff happens.

I etch my mark then clean up the etch then I back fill with enamel paint and after it dries I then wet sand that and then etch the blade.

    Something for a Vietnam veteran

One of the young guys I work with on the North Slope asked if I could do a Bird and Trout for his dad who is a Vietnam vet and was with the 1st Cav and was badly wounded at Khe Sanh .I did a little scrimshaw of his unit patch and one of the beloved Huey.

    Damascus Bird and Trout

One thing to remember, they also offer milk ivory AKA celluloid ,this was often used as razor scales and as they age they off gas and cause rust so dont use it for knife handles. Lots of vintage razors end up as scrap due to this and it's called scale rot.

    Stacked Leather Puukko

I like that one ,the handle shape is better in my opinion and it's just my opinion .The round broom handle style is just too round and hard to index so I'm a big fan of the puukko knives with some flat to the sides of the handle.

    Damascus Bird and Trout

Randy some folks have a little shield template that they use to paint on a resist and for my taste it's just to much ,what I do is get a good deap etch then clean it up,next I back fill it with white enamel paint and give it a day to dry ,then I wet sand it with 1200 grit and etch the blade.

Passing Of a fellow Knife Maker..RIP Lee lbcustomsknives

Horrible news indeed, I have no idea who the man was but he is a fellow craftsman .As stated if this was a buffer accident it is one to many for sure.My thoughts and prayers will definitely contain the man and his family for quite some time.
