    Couple more getting close

Was going to glue up today, but wasn’t feeling it. Maybe tonight. I call them Bowie brothers. 9 inch blade in all Damascus fittings with ironwood. Same for the 5 inch blade except with African Blackwood. All pieces from same billet of ADS. Going to build a double sheath for them and keep...

    Controls on H/T ovens

. I like big knives, but can’t see making anything over 18 so 24 would be if I thought it was possible. I think I would rather have the double 18. I don’t know, and that is why I haven’t placed the order yet! Lol

    Controls on H/T ovens

The new Paragon Pro series ovens are amazing. Better controller, but maybe not as easy as the tap. However, I don’t think you need to be all that talented to run it. Videos online. Multiple zones and I hear it heats in a hurry. I live close to Paragon, so easy call for me. I was also...

    Couple of wips

Medium and small Bowie’s being born. All Damascus components except for copper inserts. They will get fileworked and shaped soon. Trying to finish three knives in a week versus 1 in three weeks.

    10 Inch Damascus Bowie

maybe. I see the issues I had keep thinking about what would have made it better, but I am very happy with it. People seem to like it other than being a large knife. I got another billet in today and have another on the way.We will see if we can have lightening strike twice.

    10 Inch Damascus Bowie

I use copper on most of my knives cause I love it. I was going to turn it black and just couldn’t do it this time.

    10 Inch Damascus Bowie

Alabama Damascus blade and spacer, with copper guard and double dyed maple burl. Most things went as planned, and sone didn’t! Lol. Took my time and did not move ahead with flaws. It ain’t perfect, but skills are improving.

    Glutton for punishment!

Thanks for following along. I have learned so much on this one. Sadly, I know love the Damascus when I used to not like it. It will be more expensive, but sure does turn out a nice look. I have a week off coming at work due to a furlough, so ordering a couple more billets today. Going to do...

All done! First peened tang and makers mark!

thanks. I actually designed this one to be broken up like that, but I regretted it in the end. I learn something every time, so it will not happen again.

    Glutton for punishment!

For some work done to the spacer and guard. Little more finish work on the handle also. Too hot in the garage to do much else. Was hoping to get her together, but I will need a few days now that I gotta work. Thanks for following along.

Just the fine details left now. Finish shaping handle, darken Damascus, filework the damascus spacer and etch, hand sand it all, epoxy and pin it, and finally sharpen.

    The Saga Continues

Well. I am new to it all- knives and leather, but if you want that super clean look, you do your grooves, front and back, then mark your holes with the stitch wheel spacer thingy being sure to start from the same place on both sides. All the holes will then line up. Punch them individually...

    Glutton for punishment!

More progress. Guard is shaped and handle rough shaped. Don’t normally use wood, but this called for it. Gonna clean it up tomorrow night and epoxy and Pom it this weekend!

    Glutton for punishment!

Thanks! The guard was to be Damascus, but I used a piece from the edge of the billet and it lost the pattern. Scrapped it and put on some copper, then shrunk the other guard to use as a spacer. It will get fileworked and such.

    Glutton for punishment!

Got the blade ground and hand sanded to 1000 grit, then cleaned and dipped to show the pattern. Tonight I will finish it up and go for a final etch to bring out the black. Made a big mistake, but waiting to see how noticeable it will be. If I can do this on a regular basis, then I am happy...

    Glutton for punishment!

The billet I have is mostly good. The blade is fine, but also used two other pieces to make a guard. One was close to the edge and there was a void in it. Luckily, I could shorten it and just grind it away. Ending up with a good first experience. Can’t wait until I get to where I bring that...
