    Cost the handle material in finger nail polish. Ferric won’t affect it then you can use acetone to clean the polish off when finished.

    one thing you can do it touch a magnet to the steel when hot. Once it is at proper temperature it will go nonmagnetic, a little hotter and quench in your oil..

    I hollow grind with an 18 inch wheel and have flat ground two knives in the last year mainly on my disc grinder.

    New Bandsaw Blade for Thin Metal

    I've used several of theses Emachinist blades and thought they were great cutting .o80 AEBL and 3/32 and 1/8 154cm and never a problem. I did buy what was a custom made blade in 20 TPI to cut some very thin 410 and 416 stainless. I do run the band saw at the slowest pulley speed possible.

    Next is use an epoxy colorant so the gap won't stand out as much.

    Are you using a tapered reamer on your bolster holes before you put your pin material in it? I like to use reamers so that when you expand the pin , it actually drives the bolster material tighter onto the blade making the line nonexistent. Comment about getting away from the white liner is spot on.

    Fritzo look for Semen services. I get liquid nitrogen at REI. Reproductive Enterprises International. it is always spooky to me to see the gals dipping a plastic pitcher intoa 500 gallon vat and filling my semen tank with it.

    Send it to Bos heat treating if you really want to get the best performance. It at 63.5 hardness requires a tester to make sure it is there.
