Testing An Idea With A 2x72

Very nice! I have done similarly using a table router with a roller bearing guided 45 degree chamfer bit, as well as various roundover bits. You just have to set the bit depth a tiny amount above the tang so you don't nick the bit.

    Simple Tip For New Knifemakers

I wax the area between the scales and tape before epoxying. I assemble temporarily with clamps, wax, clean and go to it. It helps with that “blush” in the sanding marks.

    Cleaning surface conditioning belts

Tried a short bristle, brass brush, (all I had on hand), and it fuzzed the belt up a bit, but it didn't remove the swarf from deeper inside. This helped unless I bear down hard. Not sure if it makes any difference; this belt in particular has only been used on stainless steel.

    Cleaning surface conditioning belts

Any ideas on how to clean surface conditioning belts? The debris leaves smearing on steel and the belt is real new. Air blast doesn't remove the material and I'm apprehensive to use a piece of steel to rough it up. Scott
