Bill, I have had the same problem before and I have no idea what caused it. After it happened to me the 2nd time, I stopped using feathering adhesive and just use spray adhesive to attach sand paper to my disc grinder. That's the only thing I've ever used it for.

That is the same stuff I use as well...I had a glass platen crack in the middle and had to replace it after 2 years of having that tape on there...it took me hours to get it cleaned off enough to put the new platen on.

Just a thought but did you heat treat the pendant? Heat treated steel etches differently than non-heattreated. Along the lines of being contaminated, I've heard that just a few drops of ammonia will ruin a whole batch of ferric chloride. So if you were spraying windex anywhere near the etchant...

So I got the email today saying that the official date for blade show has been changed to August 7-9. I'm still not sure how I feel about that, as I just assumed they would cancel and reschedule for next year. It does give me a few more months to finish my JS knives if I decide to test this year

I guess this could be a blessing in disguise for me, I was planning on having my 5 JS presentation knives done for blade this year, but I've been falling behind. So if they cancel this year, I should definitely be ready for 2021! I was kinda looking forward to my first year having a table though
