Opinions on Cold Steel San Mai?

VG10 is one of my favorite steels. It takes a very fine edge. Once again, they are lying. They did not trademark san mai. The description is accurate, stainless steel can also be high or low carbon.

Not funny to me April fools

I've been using Phoenix for years and am very happy. Sean Ryan and Greg Magnusson are great guys to deal with. I was going to order from Combat when they first opened up. They had 60 grit belts for $1 each. Had a couple hundred belts in my cart when I happened to talk with a friend that had...

    Cost to make formula

I always wonder if I should publish this list, but I'm very open with people about my pricing. I think my pricing is cheap. I know it doesn't cover my time, but I make knives because I enjoy it, and I feel like I'm still learning the craft. I'm hoping to be good enough to supplement my...

Shop Music Thread- what are you listening to today?

Today I was working on a Brad Meltzer audio book. Music is great for grinding, but an audio is great for heat treat days or handsanding days.

    Paypal

I'm still using PP because it's the only option I know of that allows me to take credit cards at shows. I've started using Wave for online invoice sales though also. When someone wants to pay with PP I get there email address and send them an invoice that has no mention of "K". It prevents the...

Square closed my account and kept the funds in it. They refuse to give any explanation other than "violated policy". The only thing I was using Square for was selling handle blocks of wood. They have done the same to others.

Yes, anything that can be stabilized is. Desert ironwood and some oily woods are not. Anything spalted is stabilized for sure.

Waterjet? Plasma? Laser? What is best to cut out blade blanks?

Ed, what are your thoughts on the people that claim HAZ is not an issue at all because it will be taken care of during the heat treat. I think $6 a blade is dirt cheap when you consider the price of belts, your time and the material saved by a good nesting of your parts.
