    Paracord wrapped handles.

Actually I think whipping for rope ends could be modified to work with knife handles allowing a nice transition of colors if one so desired. I've done some fancy whipping for friends with boats (Kind of saying thanks for inviting me) when I noticed their ropes were messy on the ends using the...

    Paracord wrapped handles.

That hockey tape technique was shown to me by a friend when I usted to work in Alberta. The local hockey players and Farmers, Ranchers, fishermen etc. used it. I don't know if hockey players etc. in other locales do it but with hockey tape done that way you have a SECURE grip. Yes that...

Old carver and steel (Putnam Cutlery)

I know this is an old thread but anyway.....I love old carving knives. I own a few Putnam Cutlery as well as Landers Frary & Clark knives. Their claim of "making it impossible to break or pull the blade from the shank" seems to be well founded. I recently aquired a stag handled Putnam Cutlery...

    Paracord wrapped handles.

Paracord has many uses. I wrap my flashlights and some tool handles in it. I use a technique called Coxcombing, or spiral hitching where knots spiral around the handle. I use small diameter cord so as not to be rough on the hands or add to the diameter too much. The navy used to wrap handrails...

I already have alot of hand tools and enjoy filing and sanding. Weird I know. I use mainly hand tools to do the majority of my work. No dedicated shop but a large shed that my wife wants me to convert to a shop so I'm not doing things in the house or waiting for the weather to change.

Ok got it now. Here's a couple of pics that were requested. Please bear in mind that looks were/are secondary to me and the way they feel in my hand is of more importance. On the Blackhawk grips I left the gun frame slightly proud on purpose as it helps me to index it in my hand. The bolsters...

    Thoughts on Gift Giving

Yea.....When I was a young tough guy (I thought) a cop gave me an attitude adjustment. Made me realize I wasn't as tough as I thought and if I took his advice I would stay out of trouble. I took it and stayed out of trouble. I think alot of kids nowdays just aren't exposed to the repercussions...

Well it seems I need third party software to post pictures....................I know Imgur etc. I just don't like the idea of putting photos of my personal posessions on some server, god knows where and leaving them there forever. I'll have to do some research when I get time and see if it's...

Hi. I'm retired and started researching and putting together knives a while back (I don't forge or really want to). I have lots of time now and started putting together my own knives so I could get exactly the right fit, balance, type of steel, blade design etc. that I want in different knives...
