More addictive than crack, it is. Probably more expensive too, lol

What's going on in your shop?

Not from the shop today, but I came across this knife today and thought I would share it. This is the earliest knife I have that I made. It got lost and rusty, but still kinda looks like a knife. It’s forged out of an old file, and the handle is ebony, with brass pins. My “forge” at the time was...

Hi! Is this the same Jim Hrisoulas that had a book called “Master Bladesmith”?

What's going on in your shop?

Finished this takedown hunter today. W2, with hamon. My picture doesn’t show that at all. Starry Night G-Carta, with a bronze takedown nut recessed into the butt. Guard is Nordic gold.

Calling all Pattern Welded Steel Nerds (Must Watch)

I watched that a couple days ago. Very interesting.

One of the most handy things in my shop

Here is an example of it being used. I have to do some drilling and machining to this stag crown, and to hold it all straight and vertical and everything I mixed up a big wad of this stuff and mashed it into a snus can. Now I can take it out and put it back into this mold as often as I need and...

What's going on in your shop?

Here’s a pic of the stainless takedown nut. I like using Allen bolts because they are easy to tighten without worrying about scratching stuff. I intend for the end user to take these apart for cleaning and maintenance, so I like to have a user friendly way of disassembling it.

What's going on in your shop?

Finally finished this beast of a gyuto! W2, integral, with some quilted rainbow Siamese Rosewood from Greenberg Woods. I “s” ground this on my 36” platen, then used my 8” contact wheel on the lower part of the s, so there is a tighter radius along the edge. I really like the way it looks, but it...

    Yuge air compressor

I dunno, but I wondered the same thing. If I get a blasting cabinet, I was thinking of finding an old 1000 gallon propane tank and parking it outside my shop just to use it as a giant air tank so I could use a cheaper compressor. You might be able to do something like that

help me out - I need pic's of jigs - Calling all jig pics!

I don’t use jigs because I often do some weird elements in my bevel that really isn’t a practical application, but I don’t see how using one can make anyone’s work less desirable. Everyone has specialized stuff to make difficult processes easier. Power hammers, grinders, drill presses, and the...

What's going on in your shop?

Got a handle fit up on the integral today and finally finished the polish on the blade. Took four days to polish this blade, 2000 grit kasumi finish. I may etch it lightly with vinegar and polish it some more later, but I’m pretty happy with where it’s at

How Long Do You Use a Grinder Belt?

Thought I would try that today. The darn things don’t fit on my truck. Guess I’m gonna have to get bigger wheels. Traction on ice is going to be great though!
