Fattening up a para cord handle

I know of a knife maker (just can't remember his name) that does a awesome swell in the center of a para cord knife. Without being able to take apart I believe it was a Skelton knife or at least had two large holes horizontally in the middle of the handle area. I think he started the wrap with...

Yeah that looks awesome. Frankly though I just have mine mounted to a wall as I have used up all my bench space.

Re-thinking dust collection... a 'new' way to do it?

Check out air to air heat exchangers. I built a super insulated house. Vapor tight. I use a air to air heat exchanger to bring it climate controlled air in my house. Lots of folks make residential size units now days. It brings fresh air in, using it as it closely passes over stale air...

    Tempering Oven...Starting Over...

I will bet you got a great find and would easily be converted to a PID controlled oven at what ever temp you set the PID controller for. Plus or minus 2 degrees.

    Carbide Straightening Hammer

All I can say I've had awesome success carbide hammering to straighten blades. Zero failure so far. It doesn't take much hammering. I know a heat treater that converted a sewing machine to use for straightening. Think about that. It just takes PECKING. I use a flat metal machine plate to...

    OPauls Knife Picture Thread

Quote from my favorite movie "You've came along way pilgrim" Really nice work. I still have my first knife I was so proud of at the time. I take it out every once in awhile to see how far I've came.

    240V Plug Adapter Question

Wire sizing. 220/20 amp can be run on #12 gauge wire. 110/40 amp would require #8 gauge depending on distance and voltage drop. Both by the way will use the same amount of electric on your electric bill. One just splits the amperage over two legs. Plus I don't know anyone that makes a 40 amp...

Aluminum Quench Blocks, Will This Work?

Absolutely. I was really fortunate to come across some 1" thick stock. And a lot of it. When I'm bulk heat treating I still have to dip in ice water to bring it down in temps when doing alot of repeated SS heat treats. Aluminum sucks the heat out but retains that heat.

    Stitches??

I've only needed stitches once. Was doing a sharpening video of cutting paper with a super sharp knife and lets just say in the speed video I needed stitches. Other than that I've ground off more skin than I care to admit. Like my dad always said "if your going to be stupid you have to be tough"

    Blades Warping

I made one from using the cheapest wood handle hammer I could find at Lowes. Removed the head and annealed it. Drilled a 1/4" hole in it. Using a dremel tool I cut a 1/4" masonry drill bit to shorten it. JB welded it in the hammer. Using Dremel again I rounded over the carbide end of the bit...

    Need kitchen knife recommendations!

I listen to a pod cast of a professional chief and I had the chance to ask him about the knives he uses and what he prefers. He said BOTH at home and in his restaurants he only uses FOUR knives. A paring knife, a small chief knife, a boning knife and a bread knife. You give him those FOUR...

    Budgets and priorities

The world is wide open for a reasonable priced VSD like the grizzly 2x72. I can't imagine the market for it and why no one has filled the need. I wish I had the intelligents to bring to market and profit from. You could easily have a 400 foot long yacht and be drinking umbrellas drinks.
