    looking for a knew forge

Wayne is a good man to work with. I have looked up some of the other suppliers that I've known of but they seem not to list forges or maybe are even out of business. I looked at USA Knifemaker supply and they have an asperated mini fore for about $400. You can get some plans and build one for...

    question cable?????

Another thing to consider is to get some piano wire and twist it into your own Make sure that the steel is listed as spring steel or something like 1080. Cut it into 6" lengths or so, bundle them into about 3/4"-1", weld one end together and heat them to welding temperature. You can then...

Cabinet maker rasps- worth the money?

I have used rasps for shaping handles and I like it far more than using a belt grinder. However, I find that those four way rasps that you can find in just about any hardware store just about useless. Also, don't forget a bastard file for finer work and smoothing out the wood. Doug

    First leather sheath.

I think that you will find that an issue with most stitching chisels out there. Once you have have two layers of the outer sheath and the welt between the sheath is going to be kind of thick. The only thing that I use punching chisels for is to make holes for lacing. What I use for stitching...

    A knife for me...!!

Sometimes the "warts" make the work stand out. I see nothing wrong with the guard; as a matter of fact I think it is well made and tooled. Some might not appreciate the layered damascus pattern but I think it looks good and sometimes simple is the hardest to get right and I think that you...

    forging again!

I'm in the process of getting my forge set back up after having most of my equiptment stolen. I need to check my forges and get a 40lb propane tank hooked up. I'm thinking about getting a leg vice from a blacksmithing supply house but that would mean that I have to find a way to really mount...
