That chart is a little confusing because it has the heat treating steps out of order. The tempering temperatures could be more complete and I really question the accuracy of the tempering temperatures and the resulting HRc results for the 8670.

I'm not fond of pocket clips, I think that they were invented to cause people to loose their pocketknives, but that is a very nice looking knife there.

Did you have to turn the blade end of the block to the inside diameter of the lug nut, put the nut over it, roach out the tang hole, insert the tang then use the flats of the lugs as a guide in forming the flats of the handle?

Good to see you back. Sorry to see that you have had such a hard time with your family losses. May God bless and keep you and see you through this.

Jim Hrisoulas' The Master Bladesmith[/] is good but he also wrote a book just dealing with pattern welding. Unfortunately, I can't find which pile of books it's in.

I was watching Path of Fire on You Tube and the lady who runs it actually stabilized a piece of lump charcoal. I don't know if she is fixing to go forward with it but she thinks it's solid enough to make a handle with. Of course I imagine that the block ended up being more cured resin than...
You also might ask yourself why you need to stabilize wood. Granted there are some woods that do need to be stabilized to make good knife handles but there are knives that have been around for decades with ordinary hickory handles. There are also some wood that are about as stable as they get...
