    You could still thread the tang directly. You'd be surprised how few threads it takes to make a really strong connection. Or you could off set the screws a bit on each side so you get full tang thickness threaded on every screw. I personally would not use this method for looks reasons. Or you...

    I finished this one up a couple weeks ago. 3 3/4" Blade is made from "woodgrain" pattern damascus. Bronze fluted collars with French grayed steel accent. African blackwood handle with Brazilian Rosewood hand checkered inlays. 8 1/4" overall.

    Thanks guys. I appreciate it. This was actually an existing design of mine that I tweaked very slightly in the rear of the handle and it transformed it into a completely different knife. I might be keeping this one.

    Here's a nice folder I just finished up. It's an old school, single-liner/lock slim lightweight gent's folder. Blade is 3 1/8" of pinstripe 1084/15n20 Damascus. Scales are black g-10. Bronze fileworked backspacer. Jeweled titanium liner/lock. Titanium thumb stud. Black g-10 pocketclip. 4" closed.

    John, do slip joint makers use washers instead of milling a pocket out? Or do any (besides cheap slipjoints) do none of the above?

    Washers, bearings and bushings and relief milling are all different ways to make folders. Their primary function is to reduce surface area/drag/friction to have a smooth action. There are high quality knives made using all the methods, though I'm not sure many people are combining any of them...
