KNIFE MAKER
25 years ago I asked my wife to marry me. It's been a good run! I didn't have time to get her a gift because the roads have been closed due to snow.

A few weeks ago I took a scrapped knife that I had been practicing a convex grind on and also practicing serializing...uggh...(56,000 rpm air grinder and shaky hands....)
I shortened it and put tiny scales on it ust to see what it'd look like....I didn't care for it. BUT...my wife loved it!So i gave it to her.

Yesterday I made a sheath for it....scrap blade+scrap leather=neck knife and a happy happy wife.(it's a bit crude but she loves it! I'm not going to point out all the mistakes...) I don't mind you guys seeing all the little mistakes 'cause you're all makers...and that's what KD is all about...but she went and posted it on FaceBook...ouch!IMG_5584.JPG IMG_5583.JPG IMG_5582.JPG

In every sense of the word it is the thought that counts and whether the little knife is perfectly made or not in yours or our estimation, it is in your wifes eyes and that is what is most important and if she loves it then what the rest of the world thinks is irrelevant. A happy wife makes for a happy life.
It is my loves birthday today and with valentines day just gone and our wedding anniversary a couple of weeks back today is all about reminding her that our love is special and treasured. I am taking here out for the day and will drive the hours to her special friends place and while it may not be a lot to others, it means a great deal to her.
Our wives have different thoughts on gifts and apreciations than we do so except the happiness your little knife has given her and be thankfull.

Von Gruff...laura is a "gift" person...it's her "love language"...mine is cooking...and she eats like a bird. I have learned that a little gift here and there does much to cheer her. She does not like expensive gifts just a little trinket that says I'm thinking of her. I'm definitely blessed!

Wow, I envy your relationship, Ted. If I gave my wife a knife for Valentine's Day I am afraid I would find it stuck in my back.

Just joking, we never did too much about Valentine's Day and so one year I send a dozen roses to her office at work!! She was always talking about all the girls getting flowers and how she never got them. So I had them set-up to deliver sometime after lunch.

I got off from work early that day , and got home took a shower and was gonna call her when I got out of the shower. I was gonna call her and ask how she liked the flowers, and tell her she was going out to dinner tonight! I finish my shower and come out of the bathroom just as she comes in the front door. I asked what she was doing home so early?? I wasn't feeling good and thought I would take off a little early!

So she missed the flowers being delivered and we did not make it too supper because she was ill. I vowed never to have flowers delivered again. Although I never kept that one!!

Good for you I am glad the missus liked your present!!!

Wow. Bad luck on that one.

Wow Cliff...That's one of those...can't do anything right days!Lol.
I'm sure your gesture was appreciated!

I would much rather make something than buy flowers...

Me too Ted, but you know them women like it when they can turn to a co-worker and say see what my husband did!!

Me, I always thought when I sit down at lunch, opened my lunch box and she had cut my sandwich on the diagonal. Well boys I am doing something right!

Till the day I opened my box and my sandwich hadn't been cut at all! I said, "oh oh boys," I must be in the dog house. I took a bite of the sandwich and spat it out. I opened the sandwich and took the plastic off of the rest of the cheese. Yep I must of really done something wrong this time!!!:D
