I've got quite a bit of small steel pieces, as well. Air-hardening tool steel (S-7 & A-2), some oil-hardening 01, powdered metal (mostly CPM10V), a little 4140 prehard. Maybe I'd have more luck with the knife makers, than with my fellow toolmakers..
