Sometimes it seems like I need three hands using c-clamps. Thought this might be a little easier.

I like tools and gadgets. Found a handle clamp I’m gonna give a try from TRMaker.

T The engravings are equal in depth to my electro etch. You can catch a fingernail in them. Depending on your laser settings you can just mark it or cut all the way through. :)

No Sir. That was done by hand. My friend Jose makes my sheaves. I can engrave leather with my diode laser but not as deep as traditional methods.

I have a 10w diode laser that I use for wood projects. A knife display. I also have a 60w MOPA fiber laser. I haven't had it long but here is some of the work I've done with it.

That's awesome! My son has a scrimshawed knife I made him and a black squirrel he wants to mount. That would make a great display. Do you mind if I steal your idea? What type magnets did you use?

Lost my Dad in 2020. I've been missing him so I decided to make a tribute knife to him. He loved turkey hunting so the scales have feathers from a turkey he killed over twenty-five years ago. Gonna do some laser engraving on the blade when I get it finished. Working on my first filet knife also.

That's working out really slick for you Chris! Have you tried engraving the leather? Add a maker's mark to the sheath?

It's not hard with the fiber. I can light it up and position the knife to align it.

I've just recently started working with lasers. I have an XTool D1 Pro diode laser and an OMG 60 watt fiber laser. The diode laser will not engrave steel. Using some marking sprays you can mark steel with a diode laser but it will not engrave it. This was done with the Fiber laser. With...
