I have been using a Baking Soda and water paste ever since I had some terrible bleed out on some knives that I "forgot" to neutralize....Great results with this method and cheap too...
On the advice of the guy at Woodcraft, I picked up a chunk of Paduk for some scales... It is not stabilized.... Once I cut it to scale thickness, I found that the grain is a little open. Not sure this will be on for a kitchen knife..... Thoughts on this open grain and any corrective measures? I...
Alright! Built an etcher... The problem I must have had with the last try was a voltage issue. I will post pics soon, but the short story is... Stainless bolt, rubber cover, power supply that gives 26vdc and 2.3 amps....worked friggin awesome!
Thanks for the replies! I found a shop about 90 miles away that will laser etch my blades for $15 per blade. Sound reasonable? I may electro etch though, because of the distance.
