    Winter leather projects

The opposite here in central Washington state. Above freezing for the next 11 days, then barely after that. All muddy out here in the boonies. That will probably mean 2 mud seasons.......UGH. It's unusual and will probably mean lots of bugs and rodents next summer. Not enough hard freezing...

How do you store your inventory

Yes as Ed said don't pluck the foam. I had my wife make slipcovers (think pillowcase) for the foam inserts out of cotton flannel. They keep any wax oil etc off of the foam and can be removed and washed if necessary. I also don't really trust the foam against my guns/knives for long term storage...

    Kershaw Golden Boar

Thank You. If I look long enough I want to find the others next, if the price is right. I may have to bite the bullet and find out what I can about the origional sheaths and try to reproduce them. It seems the other golden series are even harder to find with sheaths.....Patience. The Golden...

    Kershaw Golden Boar

I always wondered about these Kershaw Golden Series from the late 80's but never liked the fact that I couldn't find any with the origional sheaths. Just the display box. The boxes are nice but not for me. There was Golden Boar, Golden Eagle and Golden Bear. Well I saw a Golden Boar with the...

Unidentified "Victory" Knife from early 20th Century

Why not make a sword? I refurbished an old short rapier and an old refrigerator box in a horse loafing shed (no horse, just empty shed) has suffered many repeated stabbings. In time I have become pretty accurate with point of entry. Swords are fun !!! I think it's dead by now but every once...

    Buffer Transference

I do the finish on all my exposed metal before I assemble the knife except final sharpening. I don't forge but buy blanks and refurbish old cutlery and other old blades. On the old stuff, if I can take everything down to just metal without damaging other componets I always do. It makes dealing...

    stag and antler

I collect daggers, hunting knives and cutlery from the 1850's or so to the 1960's or so and all I do with the stag handles when I aquire them is give them a few hours with a good coat of mineral oil. Then I wipe off all I can and let them sit overnight and wipe them again. After that a few...

    OPauls Knife Picture Thread

Sweet little knife. Looks to be a good companion to a dog and a shotgun on a sunny autumn day.....and maybe a fishin' pole to boot as long as I'm at it.

    Hello from Phoenix

I like that first blade......Good transition into the handle on both of them. Nice "trench art" behind as well...........................

I like the shape of that. I tie nautical knots among others (I can't just sit and watch TV....even at 71). Some paracord or braided leather................ I'm not trying to suggest you do so but I wouldn't be able to resist................. Like that one.

The stag might not have but I sure like the look of those horn scales. I think they look really nice with that blade.

For those who use Renaissance wax.

Hello all. I was doing some research awhile back on application of this wax and discovered some interesting thoughts on a violin makers/restorers forum. Instead of an hour between coats as suggested by the manufacturer, they suggested 12 to 24 hours on their forum. The thought being to wait...

Fit and Finish: Glue lines proud over time.

Hello. While researching this I found a post on KDogs from Jan 7 2020 that may have the answer. "Another test I conducted... "glued" G10 to full tangs, let it cure for a week, and then into a can of water overnight...... next morning the G-Flex did not "let go" but there was a noticeable...

    Knife For A Turkey Hunter

Very nice indeed. I like the pins and especially the flying turkey engraving. Well thought out design that looks to be comfortable to use.
