This was my first with one of my knives and I've been making for about 10 years. Only other stitches were from a utility knife cutting vinyl siding.

This past weekend I pulled one of my knives out of it's sheath to field dress a deer. I am right handed, but for some reason I grabbed the sheath with my right hand and the handle with my left. In the process of passing the knife to my right hand I managed to slice open my right index finger...

Lumptastic - in your original post - what type wood is fourth row left? I am assuming fully stabilized? thanks...Jeff

Is it possible to form an LLC and still keep the knife making as a hobby on your taxes? I really like the idea of protecting my assets with an LLC, but my knife making will always be low volume, maybe turning out one knife per month.

Just finished up with little one in CPM154 and blue line micarta. I think it turned out pretty good. thanks....Jeff

Interesting....anytime I've tried that with scales attached, I end up with very small scratches where the scales meet the blade.

Bruce - does the final polish take place with the scales attached?

Hi All, What are your last couple steps before you send off a new knife? In other words, how do you do your final cleaning of the blade? Windex, alcohol, renaissance wax? thanks....Jeff

Asking price is $400. I do not forge anything, stock removal only. Ad says it is manual, no electric feed. I know nothing about these machines, pretty much why I am here asking. thanks for the input...keep it coming.

There is one for sale locally and I don't know much about them. It has a Browne and Sharpe magnetic chuck and several grinding wheels. Are these good machines? Is it going to be a maintenance nightmare? I was thinking of using it to grind of mill scale and possibly taper some tangs...

I can see where both would be useful. I have a couple patterns with some sweep to the back of the blade where I the big wheel would excel. And the small wheel would be good on just about every knife for handle work.

I currently only have a flat platen on my 2x72. I have a little saved up and want to add another tool arm. I am stuck between getting a small wheel attachment and a big contact wheel, 8" or 10". I make fixed blade, mostly full tang knives. Which do you all find more useful?

I don't have a bead blaster, so I am looking for other ideas. Anyone else, please share your methods.
