    Bow in custom blade, "acceptable"?

Fixed!!! Well guys I got it fixed. First I brought the knife up to about 280-300 degrees in a controlled oven to loosen the epoxy on the scales and removed them and did away with the clear G10 pins. I then clamped the blade straight onto my tool rest for my 2x72 grinder (1-1/4" tube steel)...

    Bow in custom blade, "acceptable"?

Well guys here is an update, however frustrating it may be. After SEVERAL emails back and forth I came to the conclusion that I am better off fixing this darned thing myself. After a few emails about how he was going to "fix" it he informed me to send it but his workload was "monstrous"...

    Bow in custom blade, "acceptable"?

Him mentioning it was the ONLY reason I posted it, hence the reason I left the rest of the old email off. It isnt my intentions to post any more of the conversation but as you stated he did ask me to share this information with you guys, so I did. Thank you for the insight and I agree that the...

    Bow in custom blade, "acceptable"?

Got a response. Well, I contacted the maker, I did inform him that I had brought it up in a forum(without divulging his information). It is looking like he is willing to work with me to get it fixed. I felt it was only fair that he knows that I got an outside opinion. We will wait and see...

    Bow in custom blade, "acceptable"?

Thanks! Guys, Thanks for all of the replies, as I said before hind sight is always 20/20 and as much as I hate that I was mislead as many have said I did "accept it" and that may the pitfall of the issue at hand. I do agree will a lot of you that I would not if it were my product allow it to...

    Bow in custom blade, "acceptable"?

First off, hello to everyone! I have been away for quite a while. I have a question for you guys and wanted to get some opinions. Back in Christmas 2009 I ordered a custom knife from a maker whom I will leave unmentioned at this point. The idea was to create a bush sword of sorts from my...

    Enlighten Me

Thanks guys, I will look up the polymers, I plan on working with rather large blades 12"-16" long and up to 2" in height so I really dont want any risk of stress cracks.. as that is a lot to just start over on and I do not get into the shop as much as I would like so I have to make my efforts count.

    Enlighten Me

Guys, I have been working with ATS-34, 1080, and 01 for a while now and have decided to give 1095 a go. I use peanut oil for all of these steels and have awesome results but know this not to be true with 1095. My question is what products are available that aren't $58.00 a gallon? The...

    My NWG Build

Good looking build! It looks really familiar! Your gonna be kickin yourself in the arse saying, "why didnt I build this thing sooner" the first time you go to grind on it. I know I did. I would second the opinion to weld on nuts for the extra threads, I didnt and its a pain in the rear, I...

    Jigs: Curse or Cure?

Being relatively new to the knife making world I have found myself trying to come up with ways to simplify the tasks at hand(especially grinding), the problem is there is nothing simpler than just using your hands... Jigs take practice just like anything else, but with any jig I truly feel that...
