KITH 2020 SIGN UP

Can someone from out of the USA participate? Sending stuff afterward can be problematic.
That’s a good question. Does anybody know how it was done in the past and if there were any issues? I know COVID might be an issue. we should be able to work this out.

I believe it has been a restriction in the past except for when Gruff was such an active member. I can’t remember if there where any issues.
I think the shipping gets expensive.

I just look up shipping restrictions to So. Africa and Fed Ex does not list knives. Here is the link https://crossborder.fedex.com/us/assets/prohibited-restricted/south-africa/index.shtml That being said I know that when I had shipped items to China there were a lot of words that would flag a shipment. Specifically do not call anything a weapon or anything that might be deemed threatening. Kitchen Utensil would be ok but butter knife had to be explained. If you do ship via FedEx they were always helpful. Just my 2 cents having had a little experience with it.

I don’t know why it would be a problem aside from shipping costs. If it shows up late, well it is coming from the other side of the world.

I’ll happily trade with you, Johan!

Thank you John that’s mighty nice. I’ll add Johan above. We will address later if there are any issues.

Great point, and one that everyone should be aware of. There are codes you can look up to make sure you don't classify your package as a controlled item. Another is that there are often customs charges for items declared above a certain value. You can either declare the value that you hope to be reimbursed if the item goes missing (and incur customs charges based on that) or roll the dice and hope for the best.

Thanks gentlemen, I appreciate it and I look forward to participate.
I will also ask a few of my local fellow knifemakers how they ship knives abroad and make sure that I am set up for shipping the knife in due time.
