Knifemakers Law..............

The law (attributed to the infamous "Murphy") is ammended to include the phrase that the more important and irrepacable the part is, the further into the unreachable dark recess it will go. Often the part will find its way into an alternate universe where we may never go to retrieve it.

Not just for small parts. Tools and measuring devices also disappear every 5th time you set them down.

I'm still looking for a spring that shot out of a customer's Glock 5 years ago! Had to order a new one. I feel your pain.

Ugh! Roll pin for AR gas tube last week.

Do you know why roll pins come in packs of 50? Because you’ll only crawl around in sharp mill / drill / lathe chips with a flashlight in your teeth looking for a 3-cent roll pin one time.

I know there is a black hole in space and time right under my workbench because no small object can resist its gravitational pull once dropped in that area. Whatever is on the other side has plenty of small screws, springs and pins.

I remove springs inside one of those plastic dry cleaning bags. Especially the rebound spring on a S&W revolver.
Now that's an excellent idea! I've launched more than one gun spring clear across the room, never to be seen again. Usually an irreplaceable one.

Don't forget the gremlin's that move stuff around the shop.
how many times did you look for something misplaced when after looking in the same place countless times it miraculously reappears staring right at you...

And gun springs.....I've used the plastic bag gig before and it works great, it's when your taking out a part and the spring flies out, and I say to myself....DANG, I forgot that spring was in there !

Yep I have one of those gremlin's...I finally caught him on camera trying to move stuff again.

Glad I'm not alone!!!! I learned the plastic bag trick while working on fishing reels. Many of them have these tiny spring clips that just disappear when you touch them.
